The founder
Muyiwa Familoni

Muyiwa Familoni is an art connoisseur, collector, and quiet champion of African expression. Over the last two decades, he has travelled to more than thirty countries — sitting with artists, walking through markets, and gathering objects, images, and stories that most people pass by.
Today he lives and works in Ibadan, Nigeria — a city of writers, painters, and unhurried thinkers. From there he curates, collects, and shows African art both locally and internationally; placing work in private collections, mounting exhibitions, and building a permanent home for African expression through The Gallery of African Expression (TGAE).
His practice is rooted in a simple belief: that African art deserves to be held slowly, seen carefully, and lived with — not consumed. Whether through a single photograph, a hand-printed book, or a room full of work, the intention is the same. To make room for the dignity already there.
